Russian-Ukrainian dancer. She studied at the Vaganova Academy under Dudinskaya, and graduated into the Kirov (later Mariinsky) in 1991, where she was rapidly promoted to principal. A dancer whose extreme pliancy and slenderness facilitates an apparently boneless fluidity, she has been outstanding in the Romantic roles such as Giselle and Odette. However, she has also danced ballerina roles in the rest of the classical and Soviet repertory, and performs some of the modern repertory such as Symphony in C, Jewels, In the Night, and Le Jeune Homme et la mort. She has toured with the Mariinsky throughout the world .
