A genus of leafy liverworts. The stems are slender and mainly prostrate. The leaves are obliquely set on the stem and overlap succubously. In L. bidentata and L. cuspidata the leaves are divided into 2 sharp points; in L. heterophylla some leaves are bidentate but others are more or less entire and rounded. L. bidentata grows mainly on soil, in woods, on lawns, etc. L. cuspidata and L. heterophylla grow mainly on moist rotting wood.
