US costume designer. He studied at the Yale School of Drama and designed for regional theatre before moving to New York in 1971. He has subsequently proved his versatility, working in film (especially with Woody Allen), theatre, and dance, and creating costumes as well as sets. He has been a long-time collaborator with Twyla Tharp, designing Sue's Leg (1975), Push Comes to Shove (1976), The Catherine Wheel (1981), and Sextet (1992). He has also worked closely with James Kudelka, designing Alliances (1987), Spring Awakening (1994), The Nutcracker (1995), and Swan Lake (1999). Other designs include Robbins's The Four Seasons (1979), American Ballet Theatre's Cinderella (1983), Morris's Motorcade (1990), and Paul Taylor's Company B (1991).
