S. African dancer. She studied with Salaman and Faith de Villiers, danced with Durban Civic Ballet, then studied further at the Royal Ballet School from 1956. In 1957 she joined Covent Garden Opera Ballet and then the Royal Ballet where she was appointed principal in 1967. A softly classical stylist, she created roles in several ballets including Ashton's Monotones (1965), Jazz Calendar and Enigma Variations (both 1968), Hynd's Charlotte Brontë (1974), P. Wright's Arpège and El amor brujo (both 1975), and Bintley's Meadow of Proverbs (1979). She retired in 1979.
