Quick Reference

One of several angled slats that open and close to help regulate the temperature in a spacecraft. They are activated by a type of thermostat. When temperatures on board a spacecraft are low, the louvres close to reflect and retain heat; when temperatures are high, they open to release the heat into space. Their action helps save the electrical power used to heat or cool the spacecraft.
