The dust on the surface of the Moon caused by meteoroid and cosmic-ray bombardment of surface rocks. Lunar dust proved problematic for the Apollo astronauts (1969–72), since the dust thrown up by the lunar rover or other activity settled on their spacesuits, tools, and scientific experiments.
