The respiratory organ of some arachnids. Lung books occur in pairs on the ventral side of the abdomen. They consist of leaflike folds of ectoderm sunk into pockets having slitlike openings at the abdominal surface. Gaseous exchange occurs by diffusion through the ectodermal folds.
