A genus of thallose liverworts, which are immediately recognizable by the crescent-shaped ridges of tissue on the surface of the thallus; these protect small discoid gemmae. L. cruciata is very common in gardens, on flowerpots, moist brick, rockery stones, paths, etc.; it is also found on the ground in woods and by streams, etc.
