Pre-Islamic sage-prophet, often referred to as al-Hakim (the wise). Surah 31 in the Quran bears his name and extols his wisdom and piety. His virtuous traits are manifested through his advice and admonitions to his son. Later compilers of maxims in Arabic attribute large portions of their collections to Luqman.
