When she meets Falstaff they are interrupted by Frau Reich, warning of Herr Fluth's approach. Falstaff is hidden in a laundry basket and thrown into the river. He receives another invitation from Frau Fluth. Reich's daughter Anna Reich is in love with Fenton, but her father wants her to marry Spärlich and her mother wants her to marry Dr Caius. Anna and Fenton elope and her parents then give their blessing. Falstaff asks everyone to forgive his silly behaviour.
