poet. Born near Ballymacoda, Co. Cork. He converted to Protestantism to retain the family farm, and in his tortured poem ‘A chogair, a charaid’ he expresses remorse. His best-known poem is the rousing Jacobite battle-song, ‘Rosc Catha na Mumhan’.
