British dancer and ballet master. He studied with Sheila Ross (1950–1) and at Sadler's Wells Ballet School, and joined Sadler's Wells Theatre Ballet in 1954. He became a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden in 1959 when Beriosova requested him as her regular partner and created roles in Cranko's The Angels (1957), Antigone (1959), and Brandenburg 2 & 4 (1966), and in MacMillan's Solitaire (1956), The Burrow (1958), Baiser de la fée (1960), Diversions (1961), Symphony (1963), Images of Love (1964), Checkpoint (1970), The Poltroon (1972), and Elite Syncopations (1974). He was ballet master of the Royal Ballet (1976–9) and repetiteur to principal dancers from 1984.
