MAD mutations

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Mitotic arrest deficient mutations. The wild-type alleles of these genes encode proteins that bind to kinetochores until spindle fibers attach to them. If there is a failure of spindle microtubules to attach, the MAD protein remains bound to the kinetochore, and the entry into anaphase is blocked. See checkpoints, mitosis.
