Quick Reference

A large family of proteins (membrane-associated guanylate kinases) involved in the assembly of multiprotein complexes on the inner surface of the plasma membrane at regions of cell-cell contact. All have one or three PDZ domains, a src homology 3 (SH3) domain, and a C-terminal guanylate kinase (GuK) domain and are subdivided into four subfamilies, DLG-like, ZO-1-like, p55-like, and LIN2-like, based on their size and the presence of additional domains. Caspase recruitment domain-containing proteins are mostly members (see CARD domain; CASK). See also MAGI.
