American architect of the Prairie School, influenced by the English Arts-and-Crafts movement and by developments in Austria, e.g. the architecture of Olbrich. His work, mostly domestic (e.g. The Farson House, Oak Park, IL (1897) ), was refined, well made, and decently composed, some reminiscent of Greene & Greene, and some of Frank Lloyd Wright.
