Who emigrated to England before 1685. The chief of his nearly 70 works was Annales Typographici (5 vols, 1719–41), a history of typography to 1664 innovative in its chronological arrangement and providing in its notes more detail about incunabula than had appeared in previous catalogues. The second edition extended knowledge of extant incunabula. Maittaire also edited Greek and Latin classics, partly for Tonson.
