A semireligious political organization that struggled for Muslim emanicipation from British-Hindu oppression after the war of 1857. It was a revolutionary party that was formed at the call of Mawlana Abu al-Kalam Azad. The Majlis opposed the Ahmadis with full force, and in 1945 sided with with the Indian National Congress and opposed the creation of Pakistan. The state of Pakistan banned the party on 27 June 1957.
