Immature pods and embryo seeds of Pisum sativum var. macrocarpum (syn. macrocarpon) eaten whole; also known as sugar pea or snap pea. The name is sometimes used for immature French beans, Phaseolus vulgaris. A 100‐g portion is a rich source of vitamin C; a source of vitamins A (as carotene), B1, and B2; supplies 25 kcal (105 kJ).
