A questionnaire designed to measure the personality trait of overt or conscious anxiety, developed by the US psychologist Janet A. Taylor (born 1923, later called Janet Taylor Spence) from the pool of items used in the MMPI, and published by her in the Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology in 1953. Also called the Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale or the Iowa Manifest Anxiety Scale. MAS abbrev.
