Owen Manning was born at Orlingbury, Northamptonshire on 11 August 1721 and died at Godalming, Surrey on 9 September 1801. He studied at Queen's College, Cambridge, from which he received a BA in 1740, an MA in 1744, and his BD in 1753. He was a Fellow of the same College and had a successful career in the Church. His last appointment was that of vicar in Godalming, an appointment he held until his death.
