Is transporting or supporting loads by hand or by bodily force and is a major source of workplace injury to the back, arms, hands and feet. More than a third of all injuries that cause more than three days' absence from work are the result of manual handling. In 1992, the UK government issued the Manual Handling Operations Regulations to guide work practice and reduce the hazard involved in this kind of work.
