Scottish pianist/accompanist. Studied at St Catherine's Coll., Cambridge (1978–81), and RCM (1981–4). Teachers incl. Joyce Rathbone, Geoffrey Parsons, and Kendall Taylor. Gave own series at St John's, Smith Square, of complete songs of Debussy and Poulenc (1990–1), Britten cycle at Wigmore Hall (1995–6), and Hugo Wolf cycle at Edinburgh Fest. (1998). Débuts: Wigmore Hall (1984), Aix‐en‐Provence Fest. (1991), Edinburgh Fest. (1992), Salzburg Fest. (1994). Amer. début 1991 (Philadelphia). NY (Carnegie Hall) 1996 (with Bryn Terfel). Accomp. to many leading singers and instrumentalists: Bryn Terfel, Thomas Allen, Barbara Bonney, Felicity Lott, Emma Johnson, etc. Has appeared throughout Eur., N. Amer., and Australia.
