Spanish dancer and choreographer. He studied at the Rosella Hightower Centre in Cannes, then at the Paris Opera Ballet School, entering the company in 1988 and becoming étoile in 1999. His repertory includes the 19th-century classics, notably Swan Lake, but he is most celebrated for his virtuosity and versatility within the 20th- and 21st-century repertories, dancing in ballets by MacMillan, Petit, Taylor, Tudor, and others and creating roles in works by Ek, Larrieu, Bart, Neumeier, and Forsythe. He choreographed his first work Mi Favorita in 2002 for young dancers of the Paris Opera. He is recipient of numerous prizes and awards including Gold Medal at Varna (1992).
