The process of developing a system by means of system integration, for example developing a system which maps homes for sale to maps provided by Google Maps. Mashing is often carried out non-commercially by users who may have some programming skills, but who work in conventional IT jobs. The term comes from the music business where mashing is the process of developing music by sampling and integrating a number of different musical sources.
