Peptidases (MBL-associated serine proteases, EC 3.4.21.104, MASP-1, 699 aa; MASP-2; 686 aa) that are probably responsible for the cleavage and activation of complement C2 and C4 triggered by the binding of mannan to mannan-binding lectin (MBL). MASPs are similar to the C1q-associated proteases, C1r and C1s.
