Ukraine-Russian dancer. He studied at Kiev State Choreographic School from 1989, performing with the company in his final year (1997) as Prince Desiré in Sleeping Beauty and graduating into the company as a soloist. A classic Russian dancer, with a bravura jump, he has been a noted interpreter of ballets by Grigorovich. Between 2001 and 2002 he danced with the Mariinsky Ballet as first soloist, creating lead roles in Ratmansky's Cinderella and the company premiere of Balanchine's Prodigal Son. He returned to Kiev (2003–7) as principal, danced for two years at the Mikhailovsky Ballet (2007–9) and then rejoined the Mariinsky.

He has guested with several companies including Tokyo National Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet, and Paris Opera Ballet and is recipient of numerous awards. He is married to dancer Anastasia M, and is her frequent partner.
