The transmission of pathogenic organisms by an animate or inanimate vehicle, carrier, or vector in which the pathogen does not undergo any form of development. For instance, houseflies carry fecal-oral pathogens on their feet, and house pets carry ticks and fleas, which may not necessarily multiply on the animal carrier before transmission to a human host.
