1. Another name for baby boomers. Some commentators apply the term to the age cohort born between 1945 and 1964; others to those born between 1970 and 2000.

2. A pejorative description of a group characterized as infantile and selfish, who demand rights but take no responsibility, and who put their own interests before any other consideration. The term alludes to ‘the me decade’, a coinage of the American author Tom Wolfe (b.1931).
