A genus of trees or treelets which have bipinnate or tripinnate leaves. The flowers are hermaphrodite, the fruit a drupe. Some species have useful timber (e.g. M. azedarach (pride of India), native to the Himalaya but now naturalized throughout the tropics and subtropics). There are 3 species, found in the Old World tropics.
