Quick Reference

Materials and equipment used to retrieve spilt mercury and minimize the potential health risk. A brush is used to localize the spillage and as much free mercury as possible is aspirated into a closed syringe and placed in a waste container. Flowers of sulphur and calcium oxide are then mixed to a paste with water and painted on and around the remaining spillage; when dry the mixture is transferred to a suitable sealed waste container.
