Succeeded Hywel in Anglesey in 825 and later extended his rule to the mainland. He was said to be the son of Gwriad and Ethyllt, daughter of Cynan ap Rhodri, and a descendant of Llywarch Hen, a legendary hero. He married Nest, daughter of Cadell ap Brochwel of Powys, and died in 844.
