Canadian dancer, choreographer, and ballet director. He studied with Graham, and at both the Rambert School and Sadler's Wells School. From 1957 to 1968 he danced with Western Theatre Ballet (now Scottish Ballet), becoming ballet master and associate artistic director in 1964. In 1969 he founded Northern Dance Theatre in Manchester (later Northern Ballet Theatre). He resigned in 1975 and took up teaching. A list of his ballets includes The Web (mus. Webern, 1962), Schubert Variations (1972), Cinderella (mus. Robert Stewart, 1973), and Aladdin (mus. E. Tomlinson, 1974).
