Quick Reference

A method that was widely used to store miniaturized documentary records by photographic reproduction. On a microfiche, a typescript page occupies only a few square millimeters of film. A special microscope projection screen is required to read the stored information, and reading can be a tedious process if many pages have to be scanned, but microfiche was universally adopted as a space-saving measure in libraries all over the world, although now often superseded by computerized records that are more easily and efficiently stored.

Subjects: Public Health and Epidemiology.
