A heterodimeric protein (MTTP), found in liver and intestine, composed of protein disulfide isomerase (EC, 504 aa) and a large subunit (894 aa) that is a member of the vitellogenin gene family. It catalyses the transport of triglyceride, cholesteryl ester, and phospholipid from phospholipid surfaces, and the large subunit is defective in abetalipoproteinaemia.
