Quick Reference

(MidYIS)

Provides tests which are used nationally by secondary schools to gauge the potential of their Key Stage 3 pupils. Schools choose whether or not to participate in this type of standardized assessment. Tests results can be used by secondary schools as a baseline for value added measures. They are also used to predict General Certificate of Secondary Education grades. MidYIS tests provide an alternative baseline to Key Stage 2 Standard Task results, which are the outcome of specific learning and instruction rather than innate potential. In addition, MidYIS produces baseline tests for Years 7, 8, and 9. These tests are assessed externally by MidYIS and results are returned to the school shortly afterwards.
