American poet. A Few Figs from Thistles (1920) established her persona as a reckless, romantic, cynical, ‘naughty’ New Woman with such poems as ‘The Penitent’ and ‘My Candle Burns at Both Ends’. Other volumes followed, including dramatic pieces and her Collected Poems (1956).
