Hungarian prelate. He was imprisoned by the Hungarian puppet government (1944–45) and was sentenced to penal servitude for life, commuted to house detention. Freed at the time of the Hungarian Revolution, on the return of Soviet forces, he sought refuge in the US Legation in Budapest, staying there until 1971.
