Moses' and Aaron's sister, who enjoyed an authority among the people and led the celebrations after the successful Exodus (Exod. 15: 20). She did not hesitate to criticize Moses (Num. 12: 1, 10), though for this presumption she was afflicted with leprosy and temporarily excluded from society. She was remembered as a national heroine (Mic. 6: 4).
