novelist and sister of J. B. S. Haldane. Her many works of fiction include The Corn King and the Spring Queen (1931), a historical novel, The Blood of the Martyrs (1939), and The Big House (1950). Her non‐fiction works, including three volumes of autobiography (1973–9), illustrate her commitment to the progressive political and social causes of the intellectual circles in which she moved.
