abbot. He worked at Stirling and Falkirk and used to retire to solitude in the mountains near Dumbarton. Churches at Stirling, Roseneath (Dunbartonshire), and Falkirk are dedicated to him. Feast: 4 February. There is another Scottish Modan, sometimes confused with him, who was a bishop in the 8th century. Feast: 14 November, especially at Philorth (Fraserburgh) where his silver head-relic was formerly carried in procession to bring down rain or improve the weather in other ways, His principal foundation was Timhood.
