Quick Reference

Almost all editions of Shakespeare's plays from the First Folio onwards have brought the spelling into conformity with current practice. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish between variant spellings and variant forms, so that e.g. some editors modernize murther to murder, others retain murther on the grounds that it is a different word.
