Orthodox theologian and from 1632 Metropolitan of Kiev. The most important of his writings was his ‘Confession’. A comprehensive survey of the faith of the Orthodox Church, it was approved by the Synod of Jassy (1642), published in 1645, and remains a primary witness to Orthodox doctrine.
