a friend of Wordsworth, Coleridge, and Godwin; his young son (also Basil) lived with the Wordsworths during their West Country period. He became a successful barrister and author; published many legal and political works; edited F. Bacon (1825–37); and in 1846 published a little volume of mock‐heroic couplets, Railroad Eclogues.
