Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A multiprotein complex (MRE11–RAD50–NBN complex) involved in recruiting ATM to double-strand breaks in DNA. The complex has single-strand endonuclease activity and double-strand-specific 3′–5′-exonuclease activity, provided by MRE11A (708 aa). RAD50 (DNA repair protein RAD50, 1312 aa) may be required to bind DNA ends and hold them in close proximity. The complex consists of two heterodimers of RAD50 and MRE11A associated with a single nibrin. The MRN complex is also part of the BASC complex.

Subjects: Medicine and Health.
