An order of fungi in which the vegetative stage is typically an extensive, usually coenocytic, eucarpic mycelium. Aplanospores are dispersed by wind, rain, insects, etc. Most species are terrestrial saprotrophs common in soil, dung, plant debris, etc. Some are parasites or pathogens on other fungi, plants, or animals.
