Preeminent Imami Shii jurist and theologian of his age in Buwayhid Baghdad. Through the work of al-Mufid and his students, Mutazili theology came to exert considerable influence on Shii thought. Al-Mufid is believed to have written some two hundred works, including Al-irshad (Book of biographies of the imams) and Awil al-maqalat.
