Experimental investigation of the simultaneous influence of several variables. These variables may be summative, with their total influence equal to the sum of the separate influences, or interactive, in which case the influence of any one variable depends on the presence, absence, or level of another variable. Multifactorial studies are usually more complex than traditional single-factor studies.
