Quick Reference
The practice of wearing several layers of clothing when training in cold weather. Multilayering has the advantage that it provides more insulation than an equivalent thickness of a single garment of the same material. Also, clothing can be removed easily before the athlete becomes too hot during intensive exercise and is replaced before the athlete becomes too cold during rest periods or the cool-down.
