Mx proteins

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Proteins belonging to the large GTPase family (70–100 kDa) that were first identified in mice resistant to infection with myxovirus (influenza A and B) and subsequently found in all eukaryotes that have been investigated. Mx1 (MxA; p78; interferon induced 78-kDa protein, 662 aa) expression is up-regulated by interferon and it blocks transcription of the viral RNA genome. Other Mx proteins are cytoplasmic and are related to dynamin.
