; class Arachnida, order Araneae)
Suborder of spiders which construct funnel-shaped webs. Some species are poisonous to humans, and most species occur in Australia. Most large mygalomorphs are commonly called tarantulas. Many have hairs which produce an urtica-like rash. Some species are venomous, but are less dangerous than is generally supposed, inflicting bites that in humans are no worse than wasp stings.
